Overview
The UNIS Transportation Management System enhancement project focused on improving the user interface and experience to better support internal teams in managing complex transportation tasks and challenges. This was accomplished by optimizing the data structure and enhancing communication between databases. The outcome was a modern, user-friendly interface featuring clear actions, streamlined query processes, and efficient database interactions.

Examining the Issue
A difficult interface that impedes user efficiency.
The old system presented several obstacles for both primary and secondary users. Its outdated, sluggish, and disorganized UI led to numerous issues and frustrations. Here’s an overview of the challenge we encountered.

Fragmented Data
Develop the initial version of the Item RMS app, concentrating on creating a product that serves both businesses and individual users in the field of reverse logistics.
Ineffective Information Architecture
The existing information architecture is inadequately structured, leading to confusion and navigation issues. Users have difficulty understanding the portal’s layout, resulting in frequent errors and a frustrating experience while trying to complete their tasks.
Limited Accessibility
The portal faces notable accessibility challenges, such as failing to meet WCAG guidelines. These shortcomings create obstacles for users with disabilities, hindering their ability to interact with the portal and access essential features and information.
Confusing UI
The user interface is confusing, featuring unclear icons, vague labels, and poor visual hierarchy. This creates a steep learning curve and frequent user errors, as users struggle to understand basic functions and find essential tools within the portal.

I've learned that investing time and effort to understand users' needs, pain points, and behaviors is crucial. This deep insight enables the creation of solutions that genuinely meet their expectations, resulting in a more successful product.
